Introduction of Modifiers'

Definition: 

A modifier is a word, phrase, or clause that provides additional information or description about another element in a sentence.

Why use it?

Modifiers help to clarify, expand, or qualify the meaning of the element they modify.

Position:

The simplest modifiers are adjectives and Adverbs. So the position of modifiers are simply before nouns or noun phrases and verbs or after nouns and verbs.

Classification:

Modifiers can be classified based on their position concerning the word or phrase they modify. There are two main types of modifiers:  (a) Pre Modifiers and (b) Post Modifiers

Pre Modifiers:

Determiner, Predeterminer, Adjective, Participle (Present Participle, Past Participle), Noun, Nominal Compound, Demonstrative, Possessive, Quantifier, Intensifier, Adverb, Present Participle Phrase.

Post Modifiers:

Noun Specific: Present Participle Phrase, Past Participle Phrase, Infinitive Phrase, Adjective Phrase, Appositive, Nominal Clause, Relative Clause

Verb Specific: Adverb, Infinitive phrase, Preposition phrase, Present/past participle
